Next on the list is an SU HS6 carb with K&N filter this should again help throttle response even further, and once set-up should be easier to maintain than the webber I have at the moment.

Only mod will be having to put a throttle cable in compared to solid linkage.

Thats the set up I have on my 90, it works well, but I'd advise a second filter inline somwhere on your fuel line, the float is sensative to dirt and sticks, which over fuels the SU and pours it out the vent....

Definately, as long as you keep the fuel getting to it clean, it's pretty bomb proof! MUCH better than the zenith I used to run!!

I'm running a weber at the moment and not overly impressed with it and heard good things about SU so thought might aswell give it a try.

Weber would have given up well before that.

How did you manage to get that much crud in the fuel?

You do realise they have started making this special cover for vehicles called a fuel cap it is to stop crud falling into the tank. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Yeah, it stemmed from a dodgy fuel tank which had a varnish like coating inside it. I now have an anodised one, problem solved!

Ross I couldn't be a bugger and ask you to take a photo of your set-up when you get a chance, as carb arrived today just slightly lost a bit.

I think it is going to be one of those things that will be great once set-up but will take a while to get there.

just general pics and throttle linkage, anything else you think might help.

You don't happen to know what size needle you have?

No probs, I'll take the camera to work tomorrow and get a few pics.
I'm afraid I have no idea what size the needle is, and the throttle linkage has been bodged as the cable snapped about a year ago.... but my bodge worked fine so I left it, knowing the tdi was going to be fitted imminently!
