Hey guys, hope some of you can offer some advice here.

The girlfriend is looking at getting a new car, and I jokingly said she should get a Jimny when I seen one on the forecourt, and surprisingly she actually really likes them.

Shes not looking for a hardcore offroader (as she seems to think she can use my Disco for that No ) but she does stay in an area that the roads are terrible especially in winter and can get flooded, but not to severe, she may also need it for work and has to go into some pretty rough sites.

Just wondered if anyone can advise what the Jimny's are like? are they reliable in standard form?

In short (pun intended) they are excellent.

I have several friends that have them, and love them. They are a lot like the old original SJ's which were brilliant out of the box, but as the models progressed they got bigger and heavier (vitara, then grand vitara), but the Jimny cuts right back to a slighly more refined version of the old suzukis. There has been no radical model changes either, so you can almost certainly find one that suits your budget... and it'll look just like anyone elses!

I almost bought one for Mrs Roz, but ended up keeping the pug for now.....

Never driven one my self but as far as off roading goes a lot of people say that can out manouvre landrover but can be lacking a bit on power, but for general stuff and off roadin they are great even before mods.

Probably one of the best softroaders out there in standard form.
