have put my 2.8 fronty up for possible sale but if i could get
help with the head gasket i would keep it, im not very mechanicly
minded when it comes to engines and a head gasket is way out
of my league.

Well im sure i could come down for the day if you got all the bits it would only take half the day to do if you got all the bits.

to do head gasket as i said when it comes to engines
i havent a clue,have got a head gasket but no brains Laughing Laughing

Hi mate you will nead to ask for a head gaskit and a set of new head bolts. And a timing belt kit.

Do you know why the head gaskit went ?

hi steve,not 100% sure its gone, no oil in water doesnt white smoke
no water in oil,its just pressureizing in header tank and it looks like
it got fairy liquid in it very frothy,the guy i bought it off said he had
a rad leak and put aload of radweld in it, what i really need is someone
to have a look first just to make sure hope this helps,

Sounds like it could have been heated head would need to be skimed and perssure tested to be on the safe side.

My land cruiser developed a similar problem shortly after I got it. Turned out to be that the previous owner hadn't serviced it the whole time he had it covering high miles over a good few years. Sneaky begger had taken the thermostat out to hide it for a while. Engine was just jammed full of thick awfull oil I spent a while pulling out in lumbs/ handfulls....

yep i dont know when the guy last serviced mine,been told
to put soda crystals in and leave it for 24hrs then give it a
good flush out and if there is any s--t in the rad or water channels
this stuff will clear it out.

MMMM i have been a mechanic for the last 14 yrs never heard of that one but thats not to say people do use it.

Maybe it does work or maybe it dont nothing will shift rad weld if it sticks somewhere its bloody awfull stuff mechanics worst nightmare i reckon lol!

cheers steve,yeh found out it had a leaking rad and the guy put
a sh-t load of radweld in it to cure it done a bloody good job
will give soda a try though.

woudint do any harm to try it head gadskit gone anyway be intresting to see if it will work i dont think it will but i have been known to be wrong on ocasions

been talking to abloke i know from belgium he moved over there quite afew
years ago he has been a mechanic for 35yrs and thats what he uses on his
fronty.
