discovery brake fittings

i have a couple of sections of brake pipe to replace and want to make them up myself. are the fittings metric or imperial? is 3/16 brake pipe standard too?

ive just done the brake pipes on the front calipers of my 95 defender, and the pipe i bought is automec 3/16" x 7.62mtrs and i beleive the fittings are imperial. you will also need a brake pipe flaring kit, and a pipe cutter or be gentle with a hacksaw. the flaring kit is about £25 and the 7.62mtrs of pipe cost me £8. hope this helps.

i have a flaring tool if you are struggling to get one

a disco has metric fittings on the brake lines i did 3 last week all metric. is it front to back that you are doing if so its quicker to replace the chassis clips instead of trying to save them they are only a few quid or i will send you some i have loads of new ones.if you want i will make you a set of pipes up and send them up to you

loving it mate, very busy land rovers and rangies dropping like flys just now.

mine is a 93/94 model chassis no. LA non abs. its the rear brake pipes i am going to replace and i have the flexible hose already and new rear calipers. guess i should replace from the master cylinder back, you are dead right about the clips. you can PM me with more info if you like.

Wont take you long to replace all the pipes its worth it and far less hassle than putting in joins

haha, just finished my defender brake pipes 2 day and i wish that dicky had left that message about the fittings being METRIC alot earlier in the year as the tool who sold me the pipe and kit and connectors assured me they were imperial as i didnt no and have never done brakes before, there not! gold star for dicky.
