NEW AXLES SWAP
I am looking to change my axles on my frontera 2.3 lwb .i want to go the trooper or hilux way and get rid of the wish bone front suspension and put a live front axle with leaf springs on has any one got any pointers on which way to tackle this . tools and mechanical no how is no problem as i was in the trade for 25 years and i have still got all my tools

Cant find the site for the life of me but i have contacted someone who has converted there frontera to hilux axles so hopefully he will be back in contact in the next few days and i will post it up for you mate

Ok mate this is what i need to know from you
what model frontera is it? because it will make a difference! especially on the year and engine size for doing this conversion
Once i get this info i will email him again and hopefully we can get some information about it all he said so far is you will need a good bit of money to do this conversion

its a 2.3 td lwb 1993 on a L plate .

Hi mate the guy i emailed who has allready done the conversion said the 2.3 has not got enough power to cope with this conversion i can give you his email if you want

my 2.3 has bags of power for what i need it to do . but it has a new hybrid turbo fitted and my intercooler pipes have all been replaced with hi speck ones so i dont see why it cant be done . i was a diesel mechanic for 25 years and i no how to build things from scratch . thanks for your help any way mate .

Dont think he was to willing to give info out which is a bit of a prob i dont see what the prob of giving me the info was i will keep looking for info for you mate sorry i couldint get more info of the guy

not had the chance to do anything yet . i have been working away and i wont get home until march.

What's wrong with the Frontera setup? is the wishbone setup lacking in travel or cause other problems?
Standard leafs won't be great for travel as standard.
What about grafting on Landrover radius arms?
Or for more flex, how about a 3 or 4 link setup using Johnny Joints, have a hunt about on Pirate4x4 forum for some ideas. May be worth checking out the SVA implications if doing chassis changes though.
