Stalling Td5 Defenders
If anyone has a Td5 Defender that has failed to start or stalled every now and then, after you have checked for oil in the injector harness and any other obvious fault, try moving the fuel pump relay. This is under the drivers seat (black or green relay) next to two other yellow relays. I was having terrible intermitent problems, but found that this relay was getting hot and becoming tempremental. I made a bracket for it away from other bits (other hot relays) and never had any more problems, cheaper than a new fuel pump!

had the same problem with another td5 - seems to be a common one. Not fun in the middle of a river !1

if you do have oil in your injector harness then also check the ecu its under the drivers seat as the oil gets all the way in to it as well. if so take it out and get a in of brake wash and wash it out then leave it upside down for a few mins to dry out .
