Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
Having problems at the moment getting the clutch to work, I suspect the slave cylinder but haven't ruled out the Master cyl, replacing both is probably the way forward, and I've also ordered a cone filter for it.... really could do with it working iin this weather!
Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
Tends to be if slave or master go the other isn't far behind, so probably just aswell to replace both and save a future job, piece of mind aswell.
Ye have to say I am glad of the landy in this weather, though I have been doing a fair bit of driving in the old dears megane. She wants to still go out but won't climb into the landy unless she absolutly has to.

I'll see if I have an oil cooler kicking around that I can fit... Looking from the front of the car is the top hose on the right and straight out and the bottom pipe on the left and straight out..? Is the 2 small outlets on the top left aswell...? Cheers. Dan
Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
go for a straight thru pipe from the turbo to the tail no boxes.you wont hear it inside your 90 but out side it sounds wicked, especially when you give it some and the turbo shreeks and your snorkel make a roar sounds magic it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up
this is the way my disco is

Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
unfortunately due to the weather, the shoot was cancelled
Anyway, making progress with the landy, still currently no fully working clutch, but have definately narrowed it down to either the master or slave cylinder, I made a little contraption to bolt in place of the slave to check:
What this did was allow me to turn the threaded bar in util the fork was pushed far enough to disengage the clutch, which was a success, meaning internally everything was fine.
I'm still waiting on the two new cylinders arriving.
In the meantime I've sorted out pretty much everything else, Everything at the front end is completely reassembled, I've rewired the the fuel pump solenoid, and got the glow plug relay working, with a neat addition of wiring the the old choke light on the dash to it so it's illuminated while it's pre heating.
I've also now fitted a cone air filter, and have fabricated the exhaust as a temporary until I can sort out a straight through system, though it's currently disconnected while I need access to the slave cylinder.
It's definately getting there, I've also rewired my winch with a wireless remote, fitted a bigger battery, and am about to fit the wiring for the two rear worklights I've ordered.

Aye, I had it MOT'd before I removed the old engine, so as soon as it's all working it will only need road tax and it'll be road legal.
Need to update the V5c, thanks for reminding me lol!

Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
Just thought I'd update this, I finally got road tax yesterday, had to get it at the DVLA office in Inverness and apply for a new V5, as it would appear royal mail have lost my original
Anyway, went for a short test drive on tar last night, and ended up doing an 80 mile round trip!
What an awesome difference in power, and that's still with an unmodified fuel pump, and a standard exhaust!

Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
I actually have a performance back box with 5" tailpipe that just might find it's way onto the system, though there is a possibility of a simple straight through pipe with no boxes at all!
Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
I am more or less straight through it got decated centerbox thrown away and a straight pipe in its place
Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
Thought it was worth updating this again.
I finally sorted out the V5c problem, after DVLA required an engineers report to verify the origins and cylinder capacity of the replacement engine.
For some reason they were being sticky about it, which I found odd considering the discovery I took the Engine from was registered in my name with the CC clearly stated on the V5!
After 7 months the signed report from my local MOT inspector was finally accepted and I now have the new style red V5c with all the correct details on it.
My exhaust has now been completely changed for a td system, but I've made a straight through pipe to replace the silencer box, so along with the cone filter it's breathing freely.

Hi ross.
how loud is your exhaust now? i mean on full tilt in 4th for instance with the windys down.
mine seems stupidly loud now, i mean beyond bearable loud. lol

Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
To be honest, it's barely any louder than it was before.
There is only the wee back box thing on the whole system, and that seems to quieten it very well along with the turbo.
I'd go as far as to say it's a little dissapointing, but I'll reserve that till after the MOT at the end of this month!
Next time I'm passing your house I'll give it legs and you can let me know how it sounds!

Re: My 90 2.5 (used to be) petrol
Update is, it passed the MOT with just one advisory which was my makeshift bonnet release catch.
The Exhaust appears to be spot on!
Can't fault how it performed at Experience 4x4, never struggled with anything I pointed it at, and with the mud terrains it didn't struggle at all in "the field" where some of the traction control boys had to take a couple of runs.
All in all very pleased considering it'll be quarter of a centuary old in March!
